Missouri Breeder's Horrific Treatment of 100 Labradors Exposed

    2024-01-10
    • Nearly 100 Labradors rescued from Sho-Me Labradors in Missouri, a repeat offender in poor animal care.
    • Sandra Kozlowski has faced numerous violations and inspections refusals, yet continues her breeding and related businesses.
    • Rescued dogs are undergoing health assessments and will be available for adoption after receiving proper care.

In a major rescue operation, nearly 100 Labradors were saved from dire conditions at an unlicensed breeding facility in St. James, Missouri.

The Humane Society of Missouri, in collaboration with the Missouri Department of Agriculture and the Missouri Attorney General’s office, conducted the rescue at Sho-Me Labradors. This operation marks the second time dogs have been removed from this breeder, with over 80 dogs rescued in 2020 and 2019. Sandra Kozlowski, who has been running the business since 1982 with her sons, faces significant criticism for the state of her breeding facility.

The rescued dogs, including adults and puppies, were found crammed into small wire cages with insufficient water. Sandra Kozlowski and her business have faced numerous violations and refusals for inspections. Despite these ongoing issues, Sho-Me Labradors boasts a history of breeding "top quality Labradors" and operates other related businesses like a dog resort and grooming store. The rescued Labradors are currently being evaluated for their health and will be available for adoption after receiving necessary care and rehabilitation.
