WASHTENAW COUNTY, MI – Three Democrats are vying for the position of Washtenaw County sheriff in the Aug. 6 primary election. Alyshia Dyer, a social worker and former county sheriff’s deputy; Derrick Jackson, the sheriff’s director of community engagement; and Ken Magee, a consultant who once led the University of Michigan public safety department, are seeking to replace current Sheriff Jerry Clayton, who announced in 2022 he would not run for reelection. WASHTENAW COUNTY, MI – Capitol One sued a Washtenaw County sheriff candidate for owing nearly $21,000, court records show. The credit card company filed a lawsuit against Alyshia Dyer, one of three Democrats appearing on the Aug. 6 primary ballot, in February.
