Grimaldi's Pizzeria joins fight against child hunger with No Kids Hungry this September, Tampa to participate

    2021-08-31

This September, Grimaldi’s Pizzeria is continuing its partnership with No Kid Hungry, funding programs that provide meals to hungry children across the country. Since 2012, Grimaldi’s has raised more than $1 million to fight childhood hunger through its annual fundraising campaign, equivalent to up to 10 million meals donated to date. The partnership is an important part of how the pizzeria gives back.

Grimaldi's in Tampa is located at 253 Westshore Plaza, Tampa, FL 33609.

It is part of the Dine for No Kid Hungry campaign. Over 15,000 restaurants united with Dine for No Kid Hungry last year to make a difference.

From September 1st to September 30th, Grimaldi’s restaurants from around the country will match guest donations made at participating Grimaldi’s Pizzeria locations to No Kid Hungry with a bounce back card redeemable on their next visit. Bounce back cards will be gifted in increments of $5 up to a total of $25 per visit. For each dollar raised, No Kid Hungry will provide up to 10 meals to hungry children across the U.S.

“As we navigate another unique back-to-school season, I look forward to seeing our communities join together in the fight against childhood hunger this September,” said Eric Greenwald, president of Grimaldi’s Pizzeria.

“We are grateful for the overwhelming support of our guests as we enter the tenth year of our partnership with No Kid Hungry.”

Estimates from Feeding America suggest that as many as 1 in 6 kids in the United States, or about 13 million, may face hunger this year. Many of these children will miss meals and that has prompted No Kids Hungry into action. The expiring eviction moratorium and pandemic cuts have squeezed families extraordinarily even beyond what existed before 2020. Prior to the pandemic the number of kids going hungry had been falling annually in America before skyrocketing back.

Although new government programs have been brought to try and battle food insecurity, there is still a big need for more to be done. Share Our Strength, the organization that runs No Kid Hungry, relies on partnerships and donations to help grow and expand its mission to help others.

Currently almost all of Grimaldi’s Pizzeria’s 40+ restaurants are open for dine-in, carryout, and delivery nationwide. Grimaldi’s Pizzeria serves traditional coal fired brick-oven pizza using pizza-making traditions that originated in Brooklyn over 100 years ago.

Grimaldi’s focuses on fresh ingredients and their pizzas are prepared in the brand's signature coal fired brick-ovens, which deliver an authentic taste that differs from gas, convection, or wood burning ovens.
