Hardware store franchise Harbor Freight Tools will open a Carmel location

Harbor Freight Tools, a hardware store chain with more than 1,500 locations, plans to open a Carmel store.

Construction has started at 1844 Route 6, where the Putnam County location is expected to open late this summer, a company news release said.

It’s expected to hire for 25 and 30 jobs, including sales and logistic supervisors, senior associates, sales associates, and seasonal work.

It will be the company's first Putnam County location.

“We’ve been looking to open a location in Carmel for a number of years so that we can provide the tools and equipment at tremendous values to the community,” Trey Feiler, Harbor Freight Tools senior vice president, real estate and construction, said in the release. “In addition to finding a great location, we were attracted by the availability of great associates in the Carmel area, and we look forward to having them join the Harbor Freight team.”

Harbor Freight Tools has Westchester locations, including in Yonkers and White Plains, as well as in Rockland, including Nyack.
