Indiana doesn't need more tax cuts

From Lt. Gov. Suzanne Couch to the Republican Party lieutenant governor candidate Micah Beckwith, we are getting the same refrain to cut taxes.

It does not seem to matter that we are one of the lowest-taxed states in the nation. Each year, our income tax, while very low, is even further scheduled to be reduced. Somehow, we need to pay for salaries of teachers, state, city employees and contractors.

We must also pay for materials in an inflated environment. In addition, by law the state of Indiana cannot have deficit spending! Cutting taxes may be politically correct, but such action will not keep Indiana solvent and moving in the right direction.

    John Nusbaum lives in Carmel.
