After just over two years at the Proscenium building, Wahlburgers in Carmel has closed. A handwritten note posted on the front door of the restaurant confirmed the eatery's last day in business was June 30.

“Thank you to everyone who dined with us,” Wahlburgers staff said in the note. “We have enjoyed serving every one of you.”

The note, which included a sketch of a person with a sad face, did not provide a reason for the closure. Attempts to reach Wahlburgers representatives were unsuccessful.

The Hingham, Massachusetts-based casual burger restaurant opened at 1200 S. Rangeline Road in Carmel in April 2021, serving burgers and other typical fast-food fare, plus beer and wine. The chain is owned by chef Paul Wahlberg and his brothers, actors and singer-songwriters Mark and Paul.

Wahlburgers, whose first eatery opened in 2011, now has roughly 100 locations in the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. A reality television series centered around and named after the restaurant aired on A& for 10 seasons over five years, following the celebrity brothers' lives and the day-to-day of the restaurant.

In recent month, several other Wahlburgers locations including those in Alabama, Pittsburgh, and the Boston area have also closed.

Shortly before the Carmel location opened three years ago, Wahlburgers officials said the company planned to open multiple locations throughout Central Indiana. To date, no additional franchises have opened in the area.
