Construction near the Monon Greenway and a few other road projects will divert pedestrians and slow traffic in Carmel from late summer into the fall.
Several of the projects are expected to get started or continue in early August.
Reconstruction of 3 rd Avenue Southwest
Work south of Industrial Drive on 3 rd Avenue Southwest is expected to be completed in August. Motorists will be able to access Industrial Drive from 3 rd Avenue Southwest on or after Aug. 12.

Then work on 3rd Avenue Southwest north of Industrial Drive to 2nd Street Southwest will begin, closing that part of the road until the project is finished in the fall.
East 106 th Street pedestrian Bridge
Work on this bridge will continue through 2025 to establish a pedestrian walkway over the White River that will connect Carmel and Fishers.
Hazel Dell Parkway and 106 th Street Roundabout
A roundabout is being built with continued traffic flow. Traffic patterns will shift on or after Aug. 26 as the west half is constructed. During this phase, there will be no access to or from 106th Street from Hazel Dell Parkway for the remainder of the project. The project is expected to be completed before Thanksgiving.

Monon Boulevard Phase 3 and Veterans Way
Pedestrian traffic along the Monon Greenway will be shifted west to a temporary path from City Center Drive to Walnut Street on or after Aug. 1. A 30-day closure of Veterans Way and Walnut Street at their intersections with Monon Boulevard will be in place for roundabout construction, beginning in the fall. Work in this area will continue into 2025.
Spring Mill Road Bridge
The Indiana Department of Transportation is evaluating long-term connectivity options while repair plans develop for the bridge over Spring Mill Road after it was struck by a loaded trailer traveling on Interstate 465 earlier this month.
