The Pittsburgh Steelers signing of Marquez Callaway turned some heads due to his connection with Drew Brees but most people looked at it as another afterthought signing. With the Steelers lack of depth at the wide receiver position, Callaway is a guy that should be watched through training camp and the preseason.

Former Penguins still out on the UFA market
Daniel Sprong signed with Vancouver over the weekend for a one-year deal worth little over the minimum salary. It’s just the latest twist to continue his strange and winding career. Sprong has scored 39 goals and 89 points in the prior two seasons, for two different clubs (Seattle and Detroit). In both instances, he did so from a low time on ice role, but made the most of it. The Canucks will be the 27 year old’s sixth team. He’s yet to play 90+ games with any one team. For one reason or another that’s clearly not related to his play (general vibes? attitude? awareness? coachability?) Sprong hasn’t quite found his niche and place just yet.

La’Mical Perine Brings a Super Bowl Winning Background to Steelers RB Room
While the Pittsburgh Steelers are very much set at running back with their two-headed monster in Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren, a battle for the team’s third running back spot is possibly up for grabs. The signing of Cordarrelle Patterson puts a damper on the fringe players hopes of making the roster as the third-string running back but the Steelers may decide to roster three true running backs and Patterson.

Jul. 22—When compiling a list of those individuals earning a spot on the proverbial hot seat entering the 2024 season, it's always easy to start at the top.
