Sonny has already dealt with his John Cates problem; but, will someone else bear the consequences of his actions?

For General Hospital watchers who needed a reminder that Sonny isn't afraid to get his hands dirty while operating his criminal business.

After consenting to transform himself into John, Sonny meets the FBI agent at the Quatermaine boathouse. However, Sonny appeared with leather gloves and a rifle, which surprised John.

John was skeptical that Sonny would shoot a federal agent and continued to criticize the dimpled kingpin.

    Sonny’s Killer Secret

In response, Sonny said unequivocally that John made a fatal error by pursuing Kristina and attempting to imprison her for a crime they both knew she did not commit.

John continued to touch and prod Sonny, and one thing led to another until Sonny shot him in the chest. Then, to complete the nasty act, Sonny stepped over a wounded John and shot him again.

This homicide may rescue Kristina from being wrongfully tried for Ava's attempted murder, but it will undoubtedly ignite a new firestorm.

The Port Charles Police Department and the federal government are expected to launch an investigation with a long list of suspects.

This time around, John made more enemies than friends in Port Charles, so multiple individuals will face the consequences as Anna investigates.

Yes, show fans may know what happened to John, but the rest of Port Charles, save Sonny, does not. However, he may include Carly since he will require her assistance in presenting an alibi.

Given Sonny's request, he clearly does not intend to turn himself in for murder.

Furthermore, because an investigation is ongoing into John's death, law enforcement is unlikely to let this case go without a murder suspect to try and convict.

Will Agent Boyle Take the Fall?

So, with all of that stated, is someone else ready to be sentenced for the crime? If so, who? We can picture a situation in which Sonny seeks Carly's assistance and either he or Carly calls in Jason, reuniting the original three.

Carly and Jason would most certainly be outraged with Sonny for killing a federal agent, but they will also understand in some way because they both despise John.

After the initial shock wears off, Carly and Jason may decide to cover Sonny's tracks. With the group unable to dispose of the body before authorities discover it, they must find someone else to blame for the crime.

Along these lines, Ava makes an excellent fall guy (woman). She was intimately involved with John, but he recently forced her hand in fabricating allegations against Kristina, and he hired Agent Boyle to dispose of Ava.

The art gallery owner would have plenty of reasons to assassinate John. If Ava is picked to take the blame for John's homicide, Sonny should make a bargain with her rather than forcing her.

If Sonny convinces Ava to say she killed John in self-defense, she will have to lie better than she has ever before in order to persuade people that she arrived at the Quatermaine house unobserved and murdered John coldly.

For those who are asking how this might work, especially because Agent Boyle and Ava were in a car that hit Dr. Isaiah at the same time John was murdered, let us paint a picture.

Jason and Sonny could certainly put together a credible tale with proof to show that Agent Boyle kidnapped Ava at John's request.

However, Ava, a warrior at heart, managed to flee to the Quatermaine estate, where John apprehended her and threatened her with death. Ava got the jump on him and murdered him, fearing for her life.

Meanwhile, Agent Boyle attempted to flee town following a failed mission and collided with Dr. Isaiah.

Such a situation is conceivable in the soap world, but suppose Ava is not put up to bear the blame for the crime, but rather Agent Boyle herself. Her character appears to be throwaway, thus placing the crime on her makes it logical.

    Who’ll Take the Blame?

If this is the case, we believe Jason and Sonny would try to get Ava to accept responsibility for running into Dr. Isaiah while claiming she was fleeing Agent Boyle and/or John.

Meanwhile, Sonny and Jason may fabricate evidence to portray Agent Boyle as having a change of heart about completing John's dirty work before following him down to the Quatermaine estate and shooting him.

This is possible given that she was weary of being blackmailed. Now, we'll admit that both possibilities have some minor story problems and are predicated on the notion that Ava will not go to prison for murder or vehicle accidents.

However, we can't imagine Sonny facing another murder accusation and not being sent to prison for good this time.

Especially because Sonny was tried and convicted of murdering A.J. years ago, and it's a marvel he isn't still imprisoned.
