Prince William is annoyed with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle

There is discord in the British Royal family, particularly between Prince William and Prince Harry. These all happened after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex reportedly revealed dark secrets of royals in tell-all interviews with Meghan Markle, followed by the memoir 'Spare'.

If this was not enough, the Prince of Wales is very “irritated” with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle over their choice to call his wife ‘Kate’ instead of ‘Catherine’.

Harry and Meghan referred to his wife as "Kate" and wished her well in a public statement following her March 2024 illness disclosure: "We hope Kate and the family can heal peacefully and privately, and we wish them health and well-being."

"It was observed that Harry and Meghan could not bring themselves to use her chosen name, even when they were sending her get-well-soon messages after her cancer diagnosis," stated those who thought "Kate" was purposefully chosen over "Catherine."

William finds it offensive when people refer to Catherine as "Kate," as Catherine has requested to be called by that name. In an interview, the friend remarked, "I am sure Meghan would not like it if William started calling her Meghan Markle."

Why does Kate Middleton prefer to be called Catherine?

For an extended period, Kate has been referred to as Catherine, a moniker shared by her close companions, relatives, and Prince William. Although she was widely known as Kate during her school and university years, she decided to switch to her full name, Catherine, before her marriage to William.

This preference has been respected by those close to her, and she introduces herself as Catherine in official and social settings. However, media outlets, particularly in the United States, refer to her as Kate Middleton.

While a second friend mentioned that the incident was terrible for William, it was not acceptable. "It is a completely insignificant matter, but those of us who are acquainted with William are aware that it is among the things that irritate him. During his wife's cancer diagnosis, pressing his buttons seemed like a needless and purposeful annoyance.

As per the reports, no one is responsible for all the trouble, but deliberately calling someone by a name they don’t like is just bloody rude. Calling her Catherine would be a wise first step if Harry and Meghan were sincere about working out their differences.

"Despite all the animosity between the brothers, William will not be stupid enough to deny his only sibling—who is currently fifth in line for the throne—a seat at the coronation when the time comes."
