Meet Pearl, The World’s Shortest Dog and Her Diva Lifestyle

Born in February 2013, Pearl, a 2-year-old Chihuahua from Orlando, Florida, is now the world’s shortest dog, as awarded by Guinness World Records. 

She measures just 3. fifty-nine inches tall; less than a popsicle stick but taller than a teacup. She’s about about 5 inches long so she is about the size of a dollar bill. The two-year-old chihuahua is a small dog with a height of less than the size of a popsicle stick and almost akin to the size of a dollar bill.

The newborn weighing much less than an ounce is a breed that is genetically connected to the previous record holder, whose name is Miracle Milly,” Guinness World Records said. Pearl is the daughter of one of the sisters to Milly, as should be expected from the family name.

The owner of Pearl, Vanesa Semler, who is a lawyer and a property manager, said to Guinness World Records, stating “We’re blessed to have her.” Semler also owned Milly, who died in 2020. She called it a “once-in-a-lifetime chance to beat our past accomplishments and inform the entire globe of this incredible news.”

Pearl, who has stayed with Semler for a long time, was also reported by Semler to Guinness World Records that she brings a very busy schedule and a true diva character to the home.

A Diva in Every Sense

Her favorite spot to visit while on a walk is Starbucks and she gets fed four times a day. My favorite types of proteins are chicken and salmon.

“She likes to bark in front of the several cafes until they give her some cream,” Semler said. “She is flamboyantly smart and understands the trick on how to be seen and heard as well as get what she needs.”

Pearl was weighed at Crystal Creek Animal Hospital in Orlando. She was measured thrice, each time with the measuring tape along her from the base of the front leg up to the withers, this being the space between the shoulder blades of the dog.

Pearl’s record-breaking was achieved during the period when she appeared on a TV talent show in Milan, Italy. Semler also accompanied her to the show and told the host how her little pet is somewhat a famous pampered and royal dog, a diva at that who loves her chicken and salmon and even prefers dressing up. 

Pearl was unfazed by her time in the limelight and was relatively very calm despite being on stage with a lot of people.
