Kostya Waited For His Master On Highway Despite Bad Weather And No Shelter

No other animal would be this loyal and adorable, "Kostya." Well, you must be thinking about why Kostya is given such a high rank and why we are comparing him to other dogs. We aren’t comparing, though it's true that Kostya was one of those dogs about whom we used to read in our storybooks. 

He is the one who would stay beside you in every difficult time and he would stay there waiting for you even if you didn’t return ever. Such dogs are a blessing and no one could replace such loyal, trusting, and protective dogs. 

Kostya would be Seen in One Place

The story about Kostya goes back to 1995. There was a dog who would always be at the edge of the South Highway and people of Tolyatti began to pay attention to this German Shepherd. Well, at first the residents of Tolyatti would only observe what the dog was doing and they realized that the German Shepherd would always be at the same place. 

It took a lot of time for the residents to realize that the dog was actually waiting for someone. He would always run behind the passing cars and always end up at the same place despite day and night; he would be seen only at the bypass road in the Auto Factory District of the town. 

With each passing day, residents of Tolyatti would take care of him and look out for him and eventually, this German Shepherd baby was unofficially adopted by the people of the town. But there always remained a question: for whom the dog used to wait?

Kostya’s Owners Died

Well, after a little research and understanding the scenario, people found out that in the summers of 1995, he was riding in a car with his human parents, a girl, and a boy, when their vehicle met with an accident and the girl died on the spot while the boy was taken to the hospital, but unfortunately, he couldn’t survive longer and within a few hours he was dead, leaving the German Shepherd all alone in the world. 

People Named Him Kostya

He was luckily alive and alone so he returned to the same place where he was last, with his beloved owners waiting for them to return, except they will never. After learning the sad and disheartening story of this dog, people restored their faith in love and loyalty and named the German Shepherd "Faithful" or "Kostya."

Kostya was loved by the citizens and they even built him a doghouse. People would try to adopt him and shelter homes had also tried taking him but Kostya was determined enough not to go anywhere and would only accept food from the people around. On the highway, every passing car would see Kostya either run along the road or lay in the grass, no matter what the season or situation was. 

Kostya was Popular Across Russia and his Statue was Built

Kostya was a living legend across Russia and people would recognize him because his story went viral across the nation. However, after seven years, he was found dead in the woods. While no one knows how he died, there are rumors that some truck driver hit him and left him in the woods in fear of wrathful consequences from the residents around. 

After his death, a homemade billboard was made but you know how sometimes even professionally made billboards couldn’t stay entact, so this homemade billboard on which "Dog, teach us love and devotion" was written used to either blow away with wind or get damaged so with popular demand, the government built a statue of Kostya to keep him in memories forever.
