Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, is visiting London but reportedly will not meet his father, King Charles, or brother, Prince William. The Duke of Sussex lives in California and is visiting the U.K. to attend an awards ceremony for children “who have coped against the odds with a serious illness or disability.”

The charity helps seriously ill children and their families both emotionally and practically. Harry continues to be the organization's patron and has been involved with it since his days as a senior royal. He and Meghan have continued to work with organizations that assist children and youth through their nonprofit, Archewell.

We are all inspired by these amazing young people and the committed nurses, caretakers, and professionals who support them. Regarding the awards, Harry recently said, "It is a true privilege to recognize such extraordinary individuals."

Harry’s relationship with the royal family

Prince Harry has avoided seeing members of his royal family on previous occasions. When Prince Harry visited in May for an anniversary service honoring the ten years of the Invictus Games, neither King Charles nor Prince William saw him. But before the May event, Harry had sent invitations to his brother and father.

Harry's father is probably in Scotland with Queen Camilla, but their relationship is still strained because of the Duke of Sussex's ongoing security struggle. Sources said that calls and letters to his father go unanswered. Harry likewise receives no response when he tries to communicate with his brother William via messages, calls, or texts.

Blistering attacks and unresolved tensions have characterized the family rift, which first came to light in 2020 when Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, withdrew from their royal roles. For Harry, no issue is a greater sticking point than security.

The father and son had a good face-to-face meeting in February after King Charles's cancer diagnosis, but their communication has since soured. Harry's friends claim that his father no longer answers his calls or writes back to him. According to a royal insider, the split with Prince William is "very bad," but it is not "irreparable."

In late August, Prince Harry and Prince William were in the same location at the same time for the memorial service of their late maternal uncle, Lord Robert Fellowes, in Norfolk, England. Fellowes was married to Princess Diana's sister, Lady Jane Spencer, and died in July at 82, and Prince Harry traveled across the Atlantic to pay his respects at the service on Aug. 29.

The estranged brothers are said to have avoided each other during the memorial service at St. Mary's Church in Snettisham, choosing to sit with separate groups of their maternal cousins.
