Camp Logan, a wonderful play by Celeste Bedford Walker starts performances this week on the main stage at TheRep (Capital Repertory Theater). The play is inspired by actual events that occurred in Houston, Texas in 1917. The all black regiment in the United States Army was thrown into turmoil due to racial tension and unrest. Ms. Bedford Walker's play captures the essence of what these soldiers experienced as individuals and as a unit with insightful and humorous dialogue during this timeframe in World War I.

The formidable cast exhibits the depth of talent that resides in the Capital District. These gentlemen are Emmett Ferris, Aileem Penn, Alvin Kershaw, Marquis Heath, James Alexander, Winthrop Ford (aka Cuzin Maine) and Leo D'juan. Preston Edwards and Steve Henel are excellent understudies for this powerful group. This fine cast will guide the audience on the journey of being a part of an all black military unit from different parts of the country intent on serving the United States from foreign occupation yet experiencing the brunt of racial hostility in their homeland. Mr. Aaron Moore is the director. Mr. Moore has acted and directed plays on numerous stages in the Capital Region. Ms. Rose Biggerstaff is the stage manager with a host of sound, light, make-up, props crew and staff members.

Camp Logan is another stellar production by Black Theatre Troupe of Upstate New York (BTTUNY), founded by the gifted Jean-Remy Monnay. Mr. Monnay, known as Remy has put his heart and soul in moving his theatre company to the forefront of local area community theater. Black Theatre Troupe of Upstate New York has performed on various stages in the last decade before landing a home at Capital Repertory Theater (TheRep). Remy is an Associate Artist at TheRep and Producing Artistic Director for BTTUNY. He enjoys producing plays and bringing the mission of the Black Theatre Troupe of Upstate New York to new audiences. https://www.blacktheatretroupeupstateny.org/
