Where to get Free Cheeseburgers on National Cheeseburger Day in LA!

Did you know the Cheeseburger was invented in Pasadena, California? According to SpuceEats, the year was 1924, and the inventor was a 16-year-old boy working at his father's restaurant, The Rite Spot. While the restaurant has since been replaced with a plaque, you can celebrate the birth of this great sandwich on September 18th with National Cheeseburger Day! Here are the best spots for cheesing it up for less or even FREE in Los Angeles.

    Habit Burger & Grill (Various)

Habit Burger & Grill recently celebrated the recognition of a #1 spot on USA TODAY's 10Best list by sending their Double Charburger "out of this world." The burger was launched over 20 miles up, soaring high above 99.5% of Earth's atmosphere for about two hours.

Back on earth, the restaurant chain is celebrating on National Cheeseburger Day with a FREE Double Char for new CharClub members who register that day and spend at least $5.

    Smashed Station (Burbank)

Smashed Station will be giving away FREE CHEESEBURGERS to the first 50 guests on National Cheeseburger Day. This offer is good for either Smashed or Regular Burgers, made with Creekstone Black Angus Halal Beef and American Cheese and served on a Martin's Potato Roll with a drizzle of Smashed sauce. If you miss the free burgers, don't despair; there's a Golden Ticket Giveaway that is good for a YEAR of Burgers when you sign up for their rewards program—details on Instagram.

    McDonald's (Various)

Visit the Golden Arches on September 18th and enjoy a Double Cheeseburger for just $.50 when you order through the app.

    Wendy's (Various)

Not to be outdone by McDonald's, Wendy's is offering their Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger for just a penny with any purchase. Best of all, it's available from September 18 through September 22nd! You'll find this deal in the “Offers” section in the app Rewards Store or on their website.

    The Godfrey Hotel (Hollywood)

Visit ALK at The Godfrey Hotel all September long for a sweet collaboration with Kettle Glazed Doughnuts. The Hollywood Glazed Burger is crafted with chuck-brisket blend patties, gruyere cheese, shallot jam, and sandwiched between two vanilla bean glazed doughnuts ($26).

    Pie 'N Burger (Pasadena)

It's hard to write about Cheeseburgers without a nod to one from the old guard -despite the lack of a special deal. Pie 'N Burger has been doing it well since 1963 by keeping things simple. Options are a beef, turkey, or vegetarian patty with homemade Thousand Island dressing, pickles, lettuce, and tomato. The cheese is 50 cents extra - but so worth it ($13).

Don't forget to add a slice of pie and bring cash!

Doors open at 8 a.m. daily.

    Burger King (Various)

Although not confirmed, it's to be expected that Burger King will be offering a FREE Cheeseburger with any purchase made through the app.
