Affordable water testing and information about water quality, spring care and well maintenance will be offered for homeowners through Virginia Cooperative Extension, Carroll County, again this year. Water samples collected by participating homeowners will be analyzed for 14 parameters, including total coliform bacteria, E. coli, pH, lead, arsenic, copper, nitrate and hardness at a cost of $70. All information is kept strictly confidential, and results are reported only to the homeowner.

Water sample bottles will be distributed at an informational meeting to be held Tuesday, June 25 at 6:30 p.m. at the Carroll County Virginia Cooperative Extension Office, 205 Oak Street in Hillsville. The sample bottles are to be returned Wednesday morning, June 26 to the Extension office.

The water tests results will be distributed and discussed at a meeting on July 30. For more information or to pre-register, please call the Carroll County VCE Office at 276-730-3113 or email Pottorff@vt.edu. Pre-registration is requested by June 18 to reserve a sample kit.
