A pair of buildings on the Carrollton square are one step closer to a face lift thanks to grants applications authorized Monday by the Carrollton Town Council.

The council voted at Monday’s meeting to move forward with applying for the community development block grants, according to Mayor Susan Bliss.

Bliss says the grant could result in $180,000 worth of improvements.

Also at Monday’s meeting, the Carrollton town council authorized parks superintendent Russell Mayden to apply for a grant to help cover replacing the city’s tennis courts. The council also passed amendments to city ordinances that will group minibikes with ATVs and golf carts in the city’s traffic codes.
