    DMV train service disrupted after Amtrak ‘trespasser’ incident; person critically hurt

    CARROLLTON, Md. ( DC News Now ) — Train service in the DMV was halted after a train hit a person on Thursday.

    In a statement, Amtrak officials said that train 93 was traveling from Boston, Mass. to Norfolk, Va. Around 5:30 p.m., the train hit a person who was trespassing on the tracks south of the station in Carrollton, Md.

    Prince George’s County Fire Department (PGFD) units responded to the crash. Officials said that one man was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

    Several trains on the MARC Penn line were canceled , and others had departure delays.

    Amtrak officials said that 330 passengers and crew were on the train at the time of the crash. None of them reported any injuries.
