New building to offer quality-of-life improvements at Newport News Shipbuilding
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — Navy leaders and HII are spending nearly $80 million on a new building at Newport News Shipbuilding. According to Naval Sea Systems Command, the funds go toward a building that will improve the quality of life for both sailors and shipbuilders here at the shipyard. The "Carrier Refueling Overhaul Workcenter" (CROW) will be for sailors and shipbuilders to use while assigned to ships in the Refueling and Complex Overhaul (RCOH) at Newport News Shipbuilding.
Virginia man convicted in 2021 Marion murder
A Virginia man was convicted of first-degree murder, and other charges, for the 2021 murder of Teresa Greer. 40 year old Jason Whittaker was convicted of first-degree murder, abduction, arson, and animal cruelty. His sentencing is scheduled for November 21 where he will be facing a maximum of two life sentences plus 15 years. Greer’s body was found in a fire-damaged home in Marion on North Chestnut Street.
