Committee approval could signal beginning of work on Tweetsie Trail Extension master plan
ELIZABETHTON — Work on planning the extension of the Tweetsie Trail from Valley Forge to Hampton could soon get underway. The first step toward the planning stage was made possible on Tuesday evening, when the Carter County Financial Management Committee approved a proposed contract to hire a team of two engineering companies. The team is made up of engineers, architects and landscape architects from the companies Ross/Fowler and from Thompson & Litton.

ELIZABETHTON — The search by the Carter County Sheriff’s Office for a trusty who walked away from a work detail came to an end on Thursday evening when Billy Fletcher, 43, was captured by deputies of the Greenville County, S.C Sheriff’s Office. The Carter County Sheriff’s Office said the search for missing person Victor Birchfield, Butler, is ongoing and the department asked that anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Birchfield should contact the CCSO at 423-542-1845 or the Tennessee Bureau of Information at 1-800-TBI-Find.
