A look at Cordage Park in Plymouth: A 40R District
In light of Fairhaven’s upcoming public hearing to create a 40R overlay district (see legal notice on page 21), the Neighb News traveled to Plymouth, to take a look at Cordage Park, an approximately 55-acre district on the waterfront in North Plymouth at the site of a former rope factory, the Plymouth Cordage Company. The project is largely considered a success in the overall 40R story in Massachusetts. The area was run down with a lot of empty buildings, but now is an active space with residences and businesses.

Granite Chin Promotions (GCP) has announced the signing of Everett junior welterweight “Showtime” Shea Willcox, a 2024 New England Golden Gloves Champion, to an exclusive promotional contract. He is scheduled to make his pro debut on September 13 in a GCP show in Bridgewater, Mass. The 22-year-old Willcox, who was a member of two of Everett High’s Super Bowl, Division One, football championship teams, was also selected as the “Most Outstanding Boxer” at this past February’s New England Golden Gloves Championships.
