Kenny Chesney brought his Sun Goes Down Tour to Talking Stick Resort Amphitheatre in Phoenix on Thursday, July 25, a night after the No Shoes Nation waited out a thunderstorm for nearly two hours before the concert was rescheduled due to “forecasts for lightning to continue throughout the rest of the evening." The new date was billed as an Evening with Kenny Chesney and the weather did not interfere. Megan Moroney, who squeezed in a well-received opening...
ASU quarterback Sam Leavitt not blinded by the preseason buildup
By Ryan Myers, ASUDevils: The fact that Arizona State quarterback Sam Leavitt is ready for the bright lights this fall doesn’t mean that the presumed starting quarterback narrative sways him. True, a strong spring practice, especially in the latter half of the 15 sessions, merited the Michigan State transfer’s preseason storyline. Yet, the redshirt freshman is all too cognizant of the fact that he has to earn those first-team duties.
Hartford Draw Phoenix 0-0 at Home
Hartford Athletic picked up a point at home in their scoreless draw against Phoenix Rising FC tonight. Though ending scoreless, tonight’s matchup was not short of scoring opportunities. Hartford wasted no time setting the tone for a strong offensive presence, crashing Phoenix’s attacking third right out of the gate. The Green and Blue saw their first chance at an early lead with less than 10 minutes on the clock after they were awarded a free kick right outside Phoenix’s box. Mamadou Dieng made contact with the kick, sending a strong header ricocheting off a Rising defender to earn Hartford a corner kick. The home club came close again when Emmanuel Samadia’s dangerous lofted corner kick made contact with the top post of Phoenix’s goal, bouncing off the woodwork into Rising’s box.

LAKE POWELL, Ariz. — It used to be one of Arizona’s best kept secrets. Now, the ‘No Wake’ signs at Lake Powell’s Antelope Point Marina are printed in four languages. People from all over the world come to the man-made reservoir and the surrounding Glen Canyon National Recreation Area for a simple reason: there are not many places on Earth like it. In 2023, the desert playground four-and-a-half hours north of Phoenix saw nearly 500,000 more visitors than the Grand Canyon.
