Idaho’s new law, which placed boundaries on “harmful” library materials for minors, was enacted on July 1. This House bill prohibits any picture, photograph, drawing, sculpture, film, book, pamphlet, magazine, or printed matter from showing or describing these materials to minors. Annette Pimentel, a Latah County Library...
Idaho court dismisses spine practice's antitrust lawsuit against health system
A 2023 lawsuit filed by Boise, Idaho-based Neuroscience Associates alleging antitrust violations by St. Luke's Health System has been dismissed. The practice's lawsuit honed in on St. Luke's "24/7/365 call coverage", which requires independent neurosurgeons to do on-call shifts as part of maintaining staff privileges, according to the July 16 order from the U.S. District Court for the District of Idaho. The health system paid neurosurgeons for their on-call coverage until April 2018, and at the time two Neuroscience Associates surgeons relinquished their privileges.
Honoring the legacy of Idaho Broadcaster Lou Dobbs
A few days ago, America and Idaho lost a great communicator, Lou Dobbs. He was the guy who made business news hip and happening on cable television. (I know our younger readers will cringe reading the hip and happening reference.) Before Mr. Dobbs, business news was boring and relegated to newspapers and magazines.

A dangerous heat wave will continue into midweek in much of the West as large wildfires burn out of control in several states, particularly California, Oregon and Washington. WARNING: Idaho’s Climate Apocalypse Fizzles Out
The Democrats staffing America’s newsrooms would have us believe man-made activities cause our summer heatwave. I would post the latest scaremongering from the New York Times, but it’s behind a paywall. Also, you already know the routine. Blame farming, cattle, and efficient automobiles. None of This is New.

POCATELLO — Librarians across eastern Idaho are using a variety of methods to comply with a law that restricts materials to minors. The law, which was reintroduced a number of times in the Legislature, was passed on April 3 and became enforceable on July 1. It makes it so that anyone can submit a “request for reconsideration” on a library item to have it moved to a section with restricted access to minors, defined as anyone under the age of 18.
