The Kingfisher Chamber of Commerce invited Oklahoma Lt. Governor Matt Pinnell to speak at their Biz-Connect Luncheon Thursday, June 20th at The Cedar Gate event center. The Lt. Governor spoke about Oklahoma tourism, most notably the infamous Route 66, and the state’s future in agritourism. About 50 Chamber members were present and enjoyed a meal provided by Pioneer ’s Dean Carter and homemade cookies provided by Abby at 4 Arrows Cookie Co . Hurricane-force winds forced Oklahomans to sweat it out Wednesday, knocking out power and air conditioning and creating a heat dome that is frying the state. The National Weather Service office in Norman, Oklahoma, issued an excessive heat warning that is valid until 9 p.m. Warm temperatures and excessive humidity can cause the heat index (also known as the feel-like temperature) to reach 120 degrees.
Oklahoma veterans homes may have 126 beds removed under decertifying plan
OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma Veterans Commission is considering removing 126 beds across three veterans homes from its inventory. If approved, the beds would no longer be available in the Claremore, Ardmore and Sulphur facilities. In a proposal during the June 10 meeting, commissioners were asked to consider decertifying those beds to “bring supply into closer alignment with local demand.”
