West Nile Virus Cases Increases In North Texas
As summer continues, bugs and insects are becoming more active. But with the influx of mosquitos, the West Nile Virus is spreading in North Texas. Denton County recently reported the first positive human case of the West Nile Virus in 2024. According to Denton County Public Health, the community member lives in Sanger and was diagnosed with West Nile Virus Neuroinvasive Disease. So far this year, 25 mosquito traps used in Denton County to monitor the virus have tested positive. MOUNT PLEASANT, Texas (KLTV) - Mount Pleasant police have arrested a Bonham man after he reportedly tried to burn down his ex-girlfriend’s house. Freddie Wayne Gibson, 36, is accused of arson after he allegedly tried to burn down a house on June 25 in Mount Pleasant. According to an affidavit, Gibson was seen outside his ex-girlfriend’s home on a church’s surveillance camera during a house fire.

3 arrested in connection with Marshall drive-by shooting
MARSHALL, Texas (KLTV) - Marshall police say three males were arrested in connection with a drive-by shooting that occurred early Thursday morning. Police say Abdiel Vences, 18, Jordan Hernandez, 17, and one unnamed minor were arrested just after midnight Thursday. Marshall 911 dispatchers received a call from someone reporting they had been shot at in the 1200 block of East Bowie. Police arrived and discovered that the shots did not hit anyone.
