Flash Flood Warning for Adair, Adams, and Cass Counties
(Des Moines) The National Weather Service in Des Moines issued a Flash Flood Warning for Adair, Northwestern Adams, and Southern Cass Counties until 10:15 a.m. At 4:32, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing between two and four inches of rain across the warned area. This rain is causing flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets, and underpasses, as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.
Cass County Supervisors Approve ARPA Funds for Vision Atlantic Childcare Facility and Courthouse Closure During RAGBRAI
(Cass Co) The Cass County Board of Supervisors officially approved a resolution allocating ARPA funds to the Vision Atlantic, LLC Childcare Facility in the amount of $150,000. Vision Atlantic plans to construct an $11.5 million new childcare facility that will serve up to 300 children. The center will sit near 18th and Olive Street, adjacent to the new Camblin Hills Housing Development.

AMES, Iowa – America’s SBDC Iowa (SBDC) has announced that Elizabeth Christensen is the new Regional Director for the Iowa Western SBDC at Iowa Western Community College, located in Council Bluffs. Elizbeth Christensen will advise and train entrepreneurs and existing business owners in Pottawattamie, Shelby, Harrison, Page, Mills, Cass and Fremont counties. Elizabeth started in early June and is excited to continue supporting western Iowa businesses.

Follow up: Cass County EMA Coordinator Describes Friday’s Funnel Sightings as a Weak Rope Tornado
(Atlantic) Several funnel clouds were sighted, and a brief one touched down in Cass County on Friday evening. The sirens went off when a rope tornado was spotted four miles southwest of Marne at 7:49 p.m. Cass County Emergency Management Coordinator Mike Kennon says at 7:58 p.m., a tornado touched down briefly three miles west of Atlantic.
