A traffic stop in rural Pine River has led to the seizure of 2 pounds methamphetamine and the arrest of two people from Longville.

Cass County Sheriff Bryan Welk reports that on July 3 pursuant to an investigation into the use, sale and trafficking of illegal controlled substances, Cass County investigators conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Highway 371 in Wilson Township. A Cass County K9 was utilized to search the vehicle, through the investigation, with the meth located inside the vehicle.

Arrested was the driver, Cherry Osborne, 58, and passenger Robert Johnson, 73. The investigation indicates that the suspected large amount of methamphetamine was going to be sold and distributed in Cass County and on the Leech Lake Indian Reservation. The vehicle was seized and is pending forfeiture. Assisting with the investigation was the Paul Bunyan Drug Task Force.

Sheriff Welk reports that most investigations start with a tip from the public. The Cass County Sheriff’s Office encourages you to report suspected drug and other crime-related information to the Sheriff’s Office. You can request to speak to the investigation staff and you can remain anonymous.
