Janet Jackson Announces Las Vegas Residency Starting In December

J anet Jackson is headed to Las Vegas for a residency at Resorts World Theatre, kicking off during New Year’s week.

It’s where she started her career singing with her brothers in the Jackson 5.

The residency, aptly named Janet Jackson: Las Vegas will start on Dec. 30 and include a New Year’s Eve performance. She’s doing eight more shows in 2025, including a weekend dedicated to Valentine’s Day. Fans can snag tickets for all 10 performances starting Aug. 28 at 10 a.m. PT (1 p.m. EST) on AXS.com.

Although she hinted at new music when she announced the tour in 2022, it has yet to surface. Jackson explained on On Air With Ryan Seacrest in April that the pandemic and personal matters had delayed her musical projects. However, she said then that she wanted fans to know, “Now that everything’s settled, we’re definitely working on new music.”

She’ll be coming to Vegas fresh off her successful Together Again tour, which traveled to 35 cities starting in June and is set to continue in Europe starting next month. During her residency, Jackson will perform at the more intimate 5,000-seat theatre in Resorts World Las Vegas.

“Having Janet Jackson, one of pop music’s biggest icons, grace our stage is thrilling,” Bobby Reynolds, the senior vice president of AEG Presents Las Vegas said . “Her return to the Las Vegas Strip and debut at our award-winning Resorts World Theatre is the perfect way to end 2024 and begin 2025 with shows that will be nothing short of unforgettable. This is definitely a residency fans shouldn’t miss.”

Dates for Jackson’s residency are Dec. 30, 31, Jan. 3, 4, and Feb. 5,7,8, 12, 14 and 15. She joins artists from Usher to New Edition to Prince who’ve done limited engagements in Vegas, something once viewed as the sunset of an artist’s career.

Jackson recently shocked longtime fans by telling the BBC that she was related to several other celebrities. She told visibly surprised radio host Scott Mills that Stevie Wonder, Tracy Chapman and Samuel L. Jackson were all her cousins. And not, as one commenter asked, her “play” cousins, but according to Jackson, she’s actually related to the other famous people by blood.
