Tyrese Says His Mom Made Him Pretend To Be Special Needs For Government Assistance, Social Media Reacts

T yrese , the King of oversharing, has returned.

The singer and actor recently appeared on Gillie and Wallo’s Million Dollaz Worth of Game podcast, where he opened up about his childhood and the lengths his mother would go to to provide for her kids.

Gibson admits that they had him act out to appear that he had mental health issues so the government assistance checks would clear.

“My mama made us go to the social securities building and play r-tarded,” Gibson said. “$780 -straight up, government cheese.”

Wallo and Gillie erupted in laughter as Gibson recited the memory, saying that his mother was his first director because that was his “first acting gig.”

We gotta go into this county building, and if y’all end up doing this, we’ll get $760 a month, and your momma could use this,” Gibson remembers his mother saying. “I’m working and trying to keep up, but there’s four of you– you’ve got your two sisters and your brother, so if you do this this is how much your mother will make.”

Gibson clarifies that the acting would get their mother $762 for each child and that she didn’t actually use the R-word.

“Mom said, ‘When we get up in here, she said, delay your answers. … She didn’t say, ‘Play r-tarded,’ she didn’t say use the word, but she was just basically like, ‘We gotta go up in there and believe that y’all got some issues.’”

Gibson goes on to joke that even if the proper authorities wanted to approach his mom about the alleged fraud, they couldn’t because she passed away in February 2022 after battling COVID-19 and pneumonia after being placed in a coma.

“I never shared this sh-t publicly in my life,” Tyrese reveals. “Hey, you can’t arrest my mama, she gone. F-ck outta here, government. We passed the window of opportunity.”
