Casstown Miami E. overcomes deficit to defeat Carlisle
Casstown Miami E. seemed a step slow at the start, but rallied to win 52-36 over Carlisle in an Ohio high school football matchup on Aug. 30. The start wasn’t the problem for Carlisle, as it began with a 13-7 edge over Casstown Miami E. through the end of the first quarter.
Katherine Weaver, Tipp High School Principal
“I believe in what we do. I really do! I believe it’s an opportunity to make a huge impact on kids. Schools are the hub of the community.”. That was Katherine Weaver talking, a third-generation educator. Her grandfather taught high school physics and math, and her mother taught education at a university, where Mrs. Weaver worked for her mom in the Dean’s office. She graduated from Centerville High School and went to the University of Dayton (UD) as a Business Major but soon changed to Education. At UD, she met her husband-to-be, and after graduating (and getting married), she moved on to Ohio State to study music. But she soon decided that education was where she really wanted to be, in the classroom with kids. Mrs. Weaver said, “I believe in what we do in public K-through-12 education. I love all the things about it. I’m happy that this is my path.”
Bethel rolls in opener 41-14
It was a tight first half, but in the final 24 minutes, the Bethel football team took care of business with a big 41-14 win over National Trail. “We knew the first week jitters of seeing a different opponent and everything means something to the guys, and we took the scrimmage tag off,” Bethel coach Andre Cokes said. “It was more of the kids getting into a rhythm and relaxing and playing football. National Trail is much improved.”

The warrior's ascent: Aamil Wagner's rise from Wayne to Notre Dame
After passing the towering crimson block “W” in the parking lots, Wayne High School students receive another daily dose of school spirit upon reaching the main entrance. The imposing visage of Wayne’s mascot, the Warrior, adorns each of the three sets of brass double doors, their handles now tarnished from nearly 70 years of use.
