Lane closures and traffic delays expected in McDonald and Barry counties

MCDONALD COUNTY, Mo. (KOAM) -- The Missouri Department of Transportation is set to begin a resurfacing project in McDonald and Barry Counties on July 15.

MoDOT says drivers can expect land closures and traffic delays on Missouri Route 76 in McDonald and Barry counties and Business 37 in Cassville for a resurfacing project.

According to MoDOT, the work is going to be done on Missouri Route 76 from McDonald County Route U south of Rocky Comfort east around 17 miles to Missouri Route 37 in Cassville Business 37 (Main Street) from Missouri Route 37 north of Cassville south around three miles through town to Missouri Route 76.

Traffic Impacts:

• Traffic reduced to one lane where contractor crews are laying asphalt
• Drivers will encounter flaggers and pilot cars where crews are working. Drivers should wait for the pilot vehicle before proceeding through the work zone or before entering the work zone from a side road.
• Vehicles parked along these routes should be removed to allow the contractor to remove and replace the asphalt surface
• Work on Business 37 will be done during nighttime hours (7 p.m.-7 a.m., Monday-Friday); all lanes open to traffic during daytime hours
• Work on Route 76 will be done during daytime hours; all lanes open to traffic during nighttime hours
• No signed detour
• Drivers should find alternate routes
• Signs and message boards will alert drivers approaching the work zones
