Drunk Driver Arrested After Vehicle Plunges Off Lake Hughes Road

A drunk driver was arrested after his vehicle plunged off the side of Lake Hughes Road in Castaic, injuring his passenger.

Around 10:35 p.m. Monday, California Highway Patrol (CHP) Newhall officers were dispatched to a solo-vehicle traffic collision on Lake Hughes Road, south of the Castaic Lake Dam Access, said Officer Josh Greengard, spokesperson for the CHP Newhall Area Office .

“The four-door sedan came to rest approximately 100 feet down the embankment,” Greengard said. “Upon CHP arrival the driver and passenger were out of the vehicle, it was determined the driver was under the influence of an alcoholic beverage and was arrested for DUI.”

Mason Bremberg, 21, was booked for felony DUI charges due to his passenger being injured in the crash.

Bremberg was transported to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station jail, according to Greengard.
