CASTALIA — A Fourth of July celebration scheduled Thursday features a full day of festivities capped by a fireworks show marking the 248th anniversary of American independence.

Food trucks and craft vendors will provide plenty of dining options and specialty items for the event, which kicks off with a car cruise-in from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the vacant lot beside the Castalia Volunteer Fire Department, 11065 Lancaster Store Road. Antique tractors will also be on display.

The town’s traditional July Fourth parade gets underway at 1 p.m., with live music following at 2:30 p.m. in Castalia Community Park, 9656 Main St.

A blind-draw, double-elimination cornhole tournament — sponsored by PB’z Cornhole Boards — is also listed on the day’s itinerary, with the top three teams eligible for cash prizes.

The entry fee is $50 per team. Those interested should register by calling Town Hall at -252-459-3668.

At 9 p.m., the celebration will come to a close with a professional pyrotechnics show.

Other area fireworks shows are planned for 9 p.m. Thursday at the Kenly 95 Petro truck stop off Interstate 95 in Kenly, 9:15 p.m. Thursday at the Wilson County Fairgrounds on U.S. 301 in Wilson and at Fleming Stadium after the Wilson Tobs take on the Martinsville Mustangs at 6:30 p.m.
