08/30/2024 Fall High School Sports Results
AROOSTOOK COUNTY, Maine (WAGM) - The Madawaska Owls made the trip to Washburn this afternoon for a boy’s soccer game. The Owls have one win and two ties to start the season and the Washburn Beavers are playing just their second game of the year. A very entertaining first 20 minute of play. The Beavers Garrett Plourde showing his ball skills as he works around the Owls defense and the shot and the save, but Brayden Worsley is in the right place and scores off the rebound to give Washburn the lead. Madawaska looking to take control. They get the ball to Sam Thibeault and he would tie the game at 1. Thibeault had 2 goals on the afternoon. The Owls then keeping the pressure on the Washburn defender, But Sean Silver made several point blank saves in the next five minutes of the contest to keep the score at 1. Madawsaka picks up the win 8-2. Josh Querze had two goals, Walter Wickman, Quinn Pelletier, Carter Guerrette and Isaac Beaulieu all had one. Garrett Plourde had the other Washburn Goal. Madawaska plays Fort Fairfield next week in another Class D Showdown.

WASHBURN, Maine (WAGM) - A very relaxed day in high school sports, just one girl’s varsity soccer game. Southern Aroostook travelled to Washburn for a 7pm start time. The student section was buzzing since the beginning of the game. Washburn controlled the ball early on, after some shots on goal they got one to roll in taking an early 1-0 lead. The Beavers didn’t take their foot off the gas, Washburn utilized a corner and knocked a second goal in. The latest update we have to the score was 2-0 Washburn in the first half.
International enrollment increases significantly since last year
International House has been serving Washburn with global competence for students, faculty and staff for many years. Early fall enrollment up 10 percent at NMCC
PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Classes at Northern Maine Community College began on Monday, August 26 and early fall enrollment is up 10 percent, marking the third consecutive year of enrollment growth. In addition to higher enrollment, the campus is operating at full residential capacity, with nearly 100 students living in student housing while pursuing credentials.
