Oak Island Sea Turtle Protection Program shared a rare opportunity last week as a trio of special guests made a surprise public appearance on their way home. On July 18, turtle fans of all ages witnessed three hatchlings take their first steps after an OISTPP volunteer uncovered them during a nest excavation near the 2900 block of East Ocean Drive. Nest. Man pleads guilty to charges in 2023 fatal hit-and-run
WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) - A man pled guilty to charges in connection to a fatal hit-and-run in Southport in 2023. Anthony Overman Jr. pled guilty to involuntary manslaughter and felony hit and run causing death. He received a sentence of 10-21 months in prison and three years of supervised probation to begin at the end of his sentence respectively.
