Catawba County deputies investigating baby girl's death
CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. — The death of a 9-month-old girl is under investigation in Catawba County, deputies announced Friday. The Catawba County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a suspicious person near Section House Road around 5 a.m. Friday. When deputies arrived, they found a woman who seemed disoriented. The woman led deputies just down the street to her home on Tanglewood Drive, where they found the infant dead. The woman who led police to the home is the baby's mother, according to the sheriff's office.
Hickory Woman Charged With Insurance Fraud
43-year-old Melanie Amanda Greene of Hickory was arrested Sunday (July 14) by Alexander County Sheriff’s Officers. Greene was served Catawba County warrants for felony counts of insurance fraud and larceny. She was released from custody under a secured bond of $15,000. A Catawba County Superior Court date was scheduled Monday (July 15) in Newton.
100-degree highs? Marion, Catawba Valley brace for hot days ahead
