Hickory Man Charged With Firearm Offense
35-year-old Darvis James Stacy of Hickory was arrested Wednesday (July 3) by Catawba County Sheriff’s Officers. He’s charged with possession of a firearm by a felon. Stacy is a felon as a result of multiple convictions in Alexander and Catawba Counties dating back to 2014. He was placed in the Catawba County Detention Facility without bond. No court date was listed.

Catawba County license plate office reopening this month, NCDMV says
CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. — A Catawba County license plate office that closed last year is expected to reopen this month, state officials said. The North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles announced that the license plate agency on Conover Boulevard West in Conover will open on July 10. The office closed last October when the previous operator's contract ended.

Stony Point Man Facing Charges In Three Counties
The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office arrested 35-year old David Earl Welch of Stony Point on June 25th and charged him with felony possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver schedule II controlled substance. As of earlier today, Welch remains in the Iredell County Detention Center under a secured bond of $30,000.
Catawba County parents appear in court on murder charges for death of 16-month-old
A Catawba County mother went hours without checking on her 16-month-old child on the day the child died from a fentanyl overdose, according to court documents. Lucas Shayne Scronce, 34, and Jennifer Denise Clay, 41, both from the Hickory area, are charged with murder in the death of their child, Ivy Clay, the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release on Monday.
