When a visitor called 911 to report an ATV/UTV crash in Catawba, the call went to the emergency dispatch where the phone was assigned in the home state of Mississippi.

The Price County Sheriff’s Office reported a 911 call was received from the Madison County Sheriff’s Office in Mississippi at around 4:13 p.m. on May 30. The lieutenant who called said they received a call to report an ATV accident in which the operator was injured.

The caller was requesting a Medevac but was not sure of the location,

Using the CallWorks system the sheriff’s office was able to determine the call was coming from the area of Skinner Creek Lane and Scenic Road West. The caller could not confirm that they

were in that area, according to the call log information, and someone else at the scene thought they were south of State Highway 111 and to the west.

Central Price County Ambulance Service was paged but because the precise location could not be determined, Phillips Fire Department, Kennan Fire Department and Catawba Fire Department were also paged. The Emergency Dispatch operator stayed on the line with the caller and the lieutenant in Mississippi.

It was later determined the crash did occur in the area of Skinner Creek Lane. Someone from the scene went out to the road to direct emergency personnel to the site.
