Coroner IDs man killed in crash with hillside Thursday evening in Cathedral City

Update 7/26/24

The person injured in the crash was pronounced dead Thursday night, according to the Riverside County coroner's office.

The coroner identified the person as Paul Devine, 56, of Palm Springs. Authorities said Devine was pronounced dead at Desert Regional Medical Center.

Police said the call started as a three-vehicle crash. Officers learned the vehicle that caused the crash fled the scene but located down the road after the driver, Devine, lost control and collided with the hillside.

One other person suffered moderate injuries in the initial three-vehicle crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
