Adoptable KC cats that could be sitting on your lap RIGHT NOW
2023-12-15
The holidays can be a tough time for many. Whether due to stress, loneliness, family squabbles, or just the wintertime blues, holiday cheer can be elusive. Everybody is dealing with different issues, but for all, the fool-proof secret to having a merry, merry Christmas is...cats.
All of these cats are readily adoptable from Kansas City shelters, and not only will they bring you happiness, but you'll bring happiness to them as well. Now that is a Christmas miracle.
Borylo
Borylo, the tabby with the unusual name, is the sweeetest cat you'd ever meet. He's about a year old and sounds like he's a coveted "gratitude cat." That's a cat that's had a rough life and now that he has been shown some love, gives it back tenfold. Found living outdoors in a cat colony, he is incredibly appreciative of the indoor life and all the pleasantries that come with it, like heating and cooling.
He's very friendly with people and other cats and would be a perfect fit for someone looking for a buddy overflowing with affection.
No, I'm not taking a break to order me some KFC (although not a bad idea), Original Crispy Chicken Tenders is this little cat's big name. This sweetheart, from Cats Pawjamas, would love to hop out of the fryer and into your lap. Well, actually, she's not really much of a lap cat at the moment, but cats do change. One of my cats took a few years before he sat on my lap, but now it's one of his favorite hobbies. In fact, he is sitting on it while I type this.
Original Crispy Chicken Tenders has a beautiful patch tabby or "torbie" coat and might be a little shy at first but will warm up quickly once she becomes acclimated to her new surroundings. She'd be good with other cats or dogs and kids too, as long as they are above eight years old.
Yes, it is a funny name, but you could always change it. She'd be just as happy if her name was "Two Piece." Adopt some of her friends and you could have a whole bucket. You can learn more about this fried chicken delight here.
Fennel
Next up, from The Friends of Parkville Animal Shetler, is Fennel. This list is making me hungry. Fennel was one of eleven kittens found under the deck of a Parkville resident's home. Apparently one of the cat lovers at FOPAS is also a chef because each of the kittens were named after an herb or a spice. You can check out a couple of other kitties from this group, Chives and Basil, on this past post.
Fennel is about eight months old and is full of little kitten energy. A very playful cat, he'll sit on your lap but is not a big fan of being picked up and carried around. That might change as he gets older and more serene. Again, cats change. In the meantime, this little guy will play with you all day. He will also take as many chin rubs as you are willing to give.
Visit the Friends of Parkville's pre-adoption application to get in touch with them about Fennel. You can also watch him and a couple of his chums enjoying some TV in a cute video on his Petfinder page. I'd highly recommend it.
Callisto and Penelope
Can your home handle this much cuteness? Callisto and Penelope challenge you to find out. These two came to Meowy Matchmakers when they were a mere two and a half weeks old and have always been together so it would be best if they stayed together in the same home. I bet you can make that happen. Wonder what a two and a half week old Callisto looks like? Here you go:
Callisto is outgoing and full of energy. She runs around all day and at night settles in with her foster mom for some cuddling. Penelope is the more relaxed of the two, but as a kitten, still enjoys her play time.
It is hard to find a pair more adorable than Callisto and Penelope. You can learn more about them here.
Georgia
Last but not least, we have Georgia, from Great Plains SPCA. You've heard of Sweet Georgia Brown? We've got Sweet Georgia Gray here. Georgia is a social butterfly, and fly she does, as she's been known to leap into her human friends' arms from time to time. I sure hope they're good at catching cats.
In her previous home, she was fine with dogs but didn't care for her feline roommates. She wasn't aggressive towards them. No, quite the opposite--she was afraid of them. You're not afraid of cats are you? The only way I'll believe you is if you go out and adopt Georgia (or any of these other super cats), today.
One more pic of Georgia, for the road.
Want to look at more cats? Many of the cats from weeks past are still available. You can peruse those with this link to my profile.
