These adoptable Kansas City cats will help you shovel your snow
2024-01-10
I never thought that cats cared much for snow until a friend of mine sent me a compilation of cute cats romping around in it. Apparently the aversion is not innate. Speaking of aversions, nobody could possibly have an aversion to these Kansas City kitties. They are all adoptable from local shelters and would do anything to find a nice, warm home. Just don't ask them to stop being so cute. They won't do it.
Smokey Bear
First up, from Great Plains SPCA, is Smokey Bear, a senior lady who had to be given up for adoption when her senior lady passed away. That's a rough fate for pets, not to only lose your best human friend but to lose your home too. Maybe someone out there reading this will step forward and take Smokey Bear in. You'll have a great cat if you do. She might be a little shy at first, but once she warms up to you, she makes for a great pal. Smokey loves all the attention you can give her and will enjoy spending time by your side.
Next up are the sisters Jem and Scout, from Meowy Matchmakers. They are precious. Not semi-precious but fully precious.
Jem and Scout had a rough start to their young lives and, as a result, are wary of trusting people. Don't worry though. They can be won over with churu treats. Give them a little plastic tube stuffed with tuna, and you've got yourself two instant friends.
Jem is a playful girl who loves to play with just about anything, but crinkle toys are her favorite. Scout, like in To Kill a Mockingbird, probably would actually kill a mockingbird if she had a chance. You know, because she's a cat. Scout is a climber, likes to scout things out. She is more a toy mouse girl.
Although Jem and Scout can be adopted separately, it'd be nice if they would stay together or at least move to a home with other cats. They both enjoy the company of cats and having one around to show them the ropes would help them adjust to their new environment. They're not too wild about dogs though.
You can learn more about Scout here and about Jem here.
Louie "Grumpy Cat"
It turns out that Louie "Grumpy Cat" only looks grumpy. He's actually in a chipper mood most of the time. This long-haired tuxedo is turning three years old in February, so let's try to find him a home before his birthday.
Louie is as sweet as can be and enjoys showing his belly to his human friends. Although all cats enjoy playing, even if half-heartedly, Louie will be happy spending most of his time lounging by your side.
The one thing that does make this cheerful cat grumpy is his FIV diagnosis. That means that it'd be best if he went to a home without other cats just to make sure he doesn't it pass it on. It's unfortunate because he does like other cats. Besides that, Louis is a beauty that's sure to bring a ton of joy to whoever is lucky enough to adopt him.
If you read my posts regularly, you might remember some other cats with spicy names from The Friends of Parkville Animal Shelter. There was Basil, Chives, and Fennel. All were among eleven kittens found under the deck of a Parkville home.
Today we have Parsley, which is an a propos name because of her good looks. This particular variety of Parsley isn't just some garnish though. She's a sweetheart through and through, and that shock of white on her chest is fantastic.
She's a bit shy and can be a bit of a Nervous Nellie, so you should expect her to take a little time to get used to her new environment (where she may bloom into a Chatty Cathy or perhaps a Merry Mary). Parsley is looking for a quiet home where she can play a little, lounge a little, and just enjoy life with people that care for her.
If you want to learn more about Parsley, you can fill out a pre-adoption application with The Friends of Parkville Animal Shelter. Filling out the application doesn't obligate you to adopt Parsley, but it is a great way to get the wheels turning.
Icelyn
Last but not least from Cats Pajamas, Icelyn might earn the nickname "Bored Cat" if her photo is any indication. It almost looks like she has given up hope that someone will come and adopt her. There, there, little Icelyn, someone will turn that frown upside down.
Such a cute calico, Icelyn has that kitten playful side in her, but she also has her calm moments. She loves other cats so it would be great if you had some already at your home (or Cats Pawjamas can hook you up with a bunch of cats if you want). She isn't as wild about dogs but has co-existed with them before and, given some time, she'd acclimate.
You can learn more about Icelyn here. First though, let's look at another picture of her to see if she's found some excitement yet.
Want to look at more cats? Many of the cats from weeks past are still available. You can peruse those with this link to my profile.

🐾💞🐾 I wish I had the money to buy a nice plot to rescue all the cats and dogs, and give them the care and love they need, and deserve. 🤔 Twenty acres is a good start! 😃👌
