Leap to adopt these five adorable Kansas City cats

    2024-02-23

Good news to share. If you keep track of these posts, you might remember Butterfinger and Lollipop from the last two weeks' posts. These two kittens who brought into The Friends of Parkville Animal Shelter after living in the wild together, were adopted as a pair and will be able to keep up their cavity-causing cuteness for the rest of their lives. Bravo to FOPAS and their new family!

All of these cats are available now from local, Kansas City shelters. There would certainly be worse decisions than running out right this minute and adopting one for your very own.

    Miss Kitty

First up, from the cat champions and pooch protectors that brought you Lollipop and Butterfinger, is Miss Kitty. This little black girl is about five years old and has had a rough go of it. Her family left her behind when they moved and fortunately, the neighborhood she was in took care of her as she tried to make it in the wild. Eventually, one kind citizen brought her into the Friends of Parkville Animal Shelter so she wouldn't have to endure the winter. Hopefully the shelter will be a brief stop for her as she waits for a loving home to take her in for good.

Miss Kitty, because of all she has been through, is timid. She will need someone who will have patience with her as she gets comfortable in her new environment. Once she is settled in though, she'll be able to shine and enjoy the security and happiness that every cat deserves.

You can get in touch with FOPAS to learn more about Miss Kitty by using their pre-adoption application here.

Next up, from Great Plains SPCA, is Scrappy, a seven-year-old Heathcliff-looking dude, who after years of living a tomcat's life of tomfoolery, is ready to settle down to a permanent home. Like Miss Kitty, Scrappy lived outdoors for a long time before finding his way to the shelter. With long fur like his, life outdoors can make you look scrappy in a flash, but all cleaned up now, he's just a sweet cat searching for a home. He's anxiously waiting for a kind family with their very own roof where he and his glorious mane can live their best lives.

    Ladybug

Next up, from Cats Pawjamas, is Ladybug, a cuter than pie kitten with a unique coat, part calico and part tortoiseshell. Ladybug has a strong personality, and like a lot of people with strong personalities, sometimes that can be a good thing and sometimes not such a good thing. While she's an entertaining character and full of life, she also is known to bring out those teeth when she's displeased. I'm thinking her biting is something she might grow out of once she's out of her kitten phase or it might stop once you learn what flies with her and what doesn't, but Cats Pawjamas will know more about what makes her tick. You might also be able to glean some tips from Jackson Galaxy, the cat whisperer.

Don't be too quick to pass on sass. Ladybug has tons of good attributes. She is full of love and enjoys cozying up with her human pals. She's great with other cats. She'd be good with dogs and would be great with kids over five. Then, of course, there is the obvious, unrivaled cuteness. You can learn more about this firecracker here.

    Annalise

Annalise, from Meowy Matchmakers, shouldn't have any difficulty finding her perfect match beause she's so good for so many people. As long as you don't have other cats (she's scared of them), Annalise is probably right up your alley. She's very social and loves people. She is a great mix of cuddly and playful, getting wild with her toys in between snuggles with her human pals. Not to mention she's a winsome lass with that orange coat of hers.

Favorite toys: pom poms, feathers on sticks, laser dots.

    Favorite catchphrase: Meow.

    Cotton Eyed Joe

Last but not least, we have Cotton Eyed Joe from The Animal Rescue Alliance. Also known as Joey but named after an American folk song that was oddly popularized by a Swedish techno band in the 90's , this little guy was, like Miss Kitty, abandoned by a family moved away. That's a sad theme to have. This three-year-old found his way to The Animal Rescue Alliance in bad shape, but he has bounced back like a champ. He's a chill cat (gotta give it up for the chill cats out there), who likes nothing more than a belly rub and a warm lap to relax on. Here's your chance to give this guy a second chance to live a wonderful life.

That's it for this week. Want to look at more cats? Many of the cats from weeks past are still available. You can peruse those with this link to my profile.
