4-year-old girl struck and killed by car on Congress Street in Fort Point
BPD is reporting that A four-year-old girl has died after being struck by a vehicle Sunday afternoon in South Boston. The crash happened around 5pm on Sunday at the intersection of Congress Street and Sleeper Street. The girl was with family members. She was rushed by Boston EMS to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

DCR Traffic Advisory/Parking Ban: Old Colony Avenue
This will be a rolling project – meaning the whole sidewalk will not be shut down at once. Beginning on Monday, March 25, 2024, and continuing through Friday, May 31, 2024, the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) will implement a parking ban and sidewalk closure along Old Colony Avenue to the Preble Circle rotary (work will be between 460 Old Colony Ave and Preble Circle.) in the City of Boston from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. to accommodate sidewalk reconstruction work. Work may take place on Saturdays, but the parking ban will be in effect Monday through Friday.

Mayor Michelle Wu Announces $21M for Behavioral Health Services + Programming for Youth + Families
Mayor Michelle Wu, the Boston Public Health Commission (BPHC), and Boston Public Schools (BPS) today announced $21 million in transformative funding for mental and behavioral health programs and services to support the City’s youth and families. The investments are part of the City’s response to the urgent need for more mental health supports for young people and to develop a larger and more diverse behavioral health workforce. These investments over five years will serve more than 50,000 students, directly impact 21 BPS schools, support more than 600 people in pursuing behavioral health careers in Boston, grow and diversify BPS’s mental health staff, and provide more than 1,000 people with behavioral health training to better serve youth and families in Boston.

In the winter, I always want the thick, hearty fiction reads that transport me to another place. This is one of two “war-time” books (see below for The Women) – but it takes place in Malaya in 1945 (which I’d also never heard of). BPDA Community Meeting: 232 A Street – March 27th and April 8th
The Boston Planning and Development Agency will host two meeting to discuss 232 A Street on March 27th and April 8th. Project Description: The BPDA is hosting a virtual IAG meeting to discuss the recently filed 7th Amendment to Planned Development Master Plan no.69, the Development Plan for 232 A Street, and the response to the BPDA Request for Additional Information. The purpose of the meeting is to provide an overview of doccuments, and discuss potential impacts and mitigation. The meeting will include a presentation followed by questions and comments from the public. Please note that the purpose of this meeting is different from that of a traditional community meeting. As part of the development review process, IAG members work closely with BPDA staff to identify the impacts of a project and recommend appropriate community benefits to offset those impacts. IAG meetings prioritize discussion between the project proponent (i.e. the developer) and IAG members.
