The visitors would drive in for the city’s popular Fourth of July celebration, held each year on July 3, which event organizers said has drawn crowds of 6,000 to 7,000 in the past.

KSP Announce Traffic Safety Checkpoints
The Kentucky State Police Post 11 in London, which provides coverage for Clay, Laurel, McCreary, Pulaski, Rockcastle, Wayne and Whitley counties, has announced they will be conducting periodic traffic safety checkpoints at various locations. The checkpoints are an effort to enforce traffic laws, especially seatbelt adherence, sobriety, insurance and registration violations. LOUISVILLE — Princeton native Brian Gupton has recently been selected by Leadership Kentucky as a member of the 2024 Leadership Kentucky class. Leadership Kentucky’s 2024 flagship program consists of seven, three-day sessions between June and December, where participants gather to gain insight on the Commonwealth of Kentucky, its challenges and opportunities. Throughout the sessions, class members meet with many of Kentucky’s current leaders and explore the state’s communities and resources. Participants come away from the program having formed lifelong connections.

Eddyville crash leaves one injured
Eddyville Police responded to a two-car collision on an intersection of U.S. 62 in Eddyville on June 24. According to a police report, 17-year-old Jacob Matchen of Eddyville was traveling east bound on U.S. 62 when he disregarded a traffic stop and collided with a north bound vehicle driven by 54-year-old Billy Coursey of Eddyville. Both cars sustained severe damage.
