Jerry M. Sullenger
Jerry M. Sullenger, 82, of Princeton, passed away on July 11, at Princeton Nursing and Rehabilitation. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 13, at Morgan’s Funeral Home with Bro. David Royalty officiating and Bro. Israel Brooks assisting. Burial will follow in Mapleview Cemetery in Marion, Kentucky. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until service time on Saturday, July 13, at Morgan’s Funeral Home.
Livingston County Fair continues through Saturday
The Livingston County Fair continues this week through Saturday in Smithland. Tuesday features exhibit entries open from 9am til noon. Bingo will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday is Family Night with an ice cream contest. Entries start making ice cream at 5, ice and salt provided. Judging will take place at 7, then free samples will be given to the public. There will also be live music by Carson Denfip. from 7-9. Friday includes the Enduro Derby at 7.
Boom, Boom, Birdie at the Chrisney Golf Course
The annual Fourth of July Picnic at the Chrisney Golf Course welcomed crowds to a pleasantly cool evening for fireworks, music, food and fun. This year’s fireworks show included about $6,500 worth of pyrotechnics, all from Smoking Joe’s Fireworks in Sturgis, KY. As it has for the last nine years, the show was headed by local veterans Steve Richardt and Jason Probus, along with friends and family. Steve and Jason have been putting on these performances for 16 years, starting out as a private show at Jason’s house before accepting an invitation to take over the annual show at the golf course.

Johnston City native is new SIC softball coach
HARRISBURG — Former Johnston City High School standout Tabitha “Tabby” Wlliams is the new Southeastern Illinois College head softball coach it was announced this week. Williams, 44, was the starting shortstop for an Indians team that placed second at the state tournament in 1998. She went on to play two years of ball at John A. Logan College, where she earned her associate’s degree and certification in medical transcriptions.
Fredonia celebrates independence with a bang

Demolition underway at Bridge Street
The former home of Stephen Charles Law Office and the original site of the Clay Health Department is being demolished to make way for the renovation of what will be known as Jockey Street. A local artist has brought a new energy to an old business in Nebo. The Blue Mushroom on Nebo road is a gift shop with some one of a kind pieces. Owner and artist Loria Rust has run the Blue Mushroom business in one form or another for around a year. Christine “Chris” Thurby Farmer, 87, of Nebo, KY, passed away on Sunday, July 7, 2024, at Deaconess Midtown in Evansville, IN. She was born on July 11, 1936, in Henderson, KY, to the late Christine Love Gish Thurby and Thomas Howton Thurby. She was formerly employed as a waitress at Busler Truck Stop. She loved working word find puzzles. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and her animals. Chris was a member of the Church of God.
