Veteran files racial discrimination suit against Cayuga County
An Auburn man has filed a lawsuit against Cayuga County, accusing it of not hiring him for a planner position because he is Black. The lawsuit, filed by David Scott on June 24 in U.S. District Court, Northern District of New York, alleges that the county violated the Civil Rights Act. He seeks more than $900,000 in damages.

A house in Owasco that sold for $680,000 tops the list of the most expensive residential real estate sales in Cayuga County between June 29 and July 12. NY awards $11M to replace six Cayuga County-area bridges, culverts
New York has awarded more than $11 million to replace six bridges and culverts in the Cayuga County area. The projects include $2,569,000 to replace the North Division Street Road bridge in the town of Throop and $2,079,000 to replace the Creek Road bridge in the town of Genoa. Both bridges have poor grades, according to the state Department of Transportation.

Aurora, Cayuga, Union Springs review DRI proposals
AURORA, NY (CortacaToday) – Over 30 project proposals are up for review in Cayuga County. A local committee is looking over potential development plans for Aurora, Cayuga, and Union Springs, who together won a $10 million Downtown Revitalization Grant earlier this year. According to FingerLakes1.com, projects in Aurora include park upgrades, lakeshore enhancements, and renovation of historic buildings. In Cayuga, they’re looking at improvements to McIntosh Park, new housing, and a lakeside event center. Proposals in Union Springs include work at Frontenac Park, a village hall expansion, and a cafe on the waterfront.
