RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — North Carolina Attorney General Josh Stein has released a statement after prevailing in a bipartisan lawsuit against Google related to its search engine.

According to the state attorney general’s office, a federal court found that Google violated antitrust law by illegally maintaining a monopoly over general search engine services and general search text ads.

Google is an illegal monopoly, judge rules. What comes next for the search engine?

“No company is too big to play by the rules,” Stein said in his statement. “Today is a win for consumers and for healthy competition. I am pleased that we held Google accountable and can now focus on repairing the market and better protecting North Carolina consumers.”
