CONCORD, N.C. ( QUEEN CITY NEWS ) — A man has been charged with murder after shooting and killing his brother, according to the Concord Police Department.

Around 12:40 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 3, officers responded to 2754 Plantation Road for a welfare check. When they arrived, 33-year-old Jose Sanchez-Mata was found dead from an apparent gunshot wound.

Officers were dispatched after a report from the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office that 29-year-old Mario Sanchez-Mata killed his brother, Jose Sanchez-Mata.

A few minutes after the initial call, police received another report from a woman at the Plantation Road house saying her boyfriend was dead, officials said.

Investigators believe the brothers were in a domestic dispute and this was not a random act of violence.

Deputies with the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office took Mario to Concord where he was booked in the Cabarrus County Jail under a $1 million bond for second-degree murder and discharging a weapon into an occupied property.
