RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — As Tropical Storm Debby crawls towards North Carolina, Ohio senator and Republican vice presidential nominee JD Vance has canceled his planned visit to Raleigh this Thursday.

Vance was scheduled to deliver remarks to the press at Raleigh Union Station, which would have been followed by a trip to Oakboro.

On Tuesday, the Trump-Vance campaign announced the North Carolina events will not take place this week due the severe weather forecast from Debby. The campaign intends to reschedule these events to a later date.

Vance’s event was scheduled to take place the same day Vice President Kamala Harris and her running mate, Minnesota governor Tim Walz, planned to hold a campaign rally in Raleigh. That event has also been postponed due to Debby.
