    Two people taken to hospital; dog, cat, baby raccoon removed from vehicles after head-on crash on NC highway

    BEAUFORT COUNTY, N.C. (WNCT) — Two people were taken to the hospital in addition to a dog, cat and baby raccoon being removed from vehicles after a head-on, two vehicle crash on N.C. Highway 33 near CCC Road Friday.

    Blounts Creek Fire Department responded within two minutes and found two people trapped in vehicles and one vehicle on fire. Highway 33 was shut down for an extended amount of time.

    One injured person was flown to ECU Health in Greenville and another taken to ECU Health in Washington. Beaufort County Animal Control was called to take the dog, cat and baby raccoon.
